Welcome to the Making of you. I'm Alexandria, the founder of your Transformation Hub and the Mastery Project. And this podcast is dedicated to the whys and ways to transform doable into enjoyable, prosperous, purposeful, and how you can become the architect of your own life.
Okay, so today I'm going to be looking at five ways you don't need to lose your shirt if you're spiritual.
Okay, so my number one, what does spiritual mean? Well, I've got an episode 33, all right. On Spotify, all the major platforms, or you can go direct to YourTransformationHub.com and that covers spirituality in depth. Today I want to answer this question. Is spirituality losing everything?
And so let's put spirituality quickly into context. I personally believe that we are all connected, that we're all made from this loving and beautiful thing that you might call energy, you might call loving consciousness, you might call universal connectedness.
But we are made of that energy. And what makes us unique is that we have the free will and choice to craft our lives and our path forward through our personal choices.
So spirituality for me is like a big circle. It embraces our humanness, our physical life, so all of the responsibilities of getting a house, our mortgage, our career, our children, our friendships, our marriages, whatever it may be, but it's not the only aspect that is in our sphere or in our big circle of unity.
So there are other dimensions of ourselves, and, yes, they aren't necessarily physical. And so what we are exploring in spirituality is that combination. So we've come into the world in a physical form, and then we are exploring what it is to be physical, what it is to enjoy that beauty and great physical presence of our planet. And then we're also going to be diving into not only the material quality qualities in our life, but the immaterial ones.
Now, of course, often in the spiritual journey, people are preoccupied at the beginning of their lives with the physical nature of 3D. So making money, getting established, focusing on the material comforts and material accomplishments, and there's nothing wrong with that. And that is the first thing I'd like to say. Spirituality says if you are choosing to explore the 3D, all right, then you are choosing simply. There's no judgment about that. That is your choice. That's what resonates with you. That is your truth.
Spirituality recommends that you do it in loving ways and in loving consciousness, not in fearful ways, controlling ways, but it's still your choice. So whether you want to learn the easy way, the hard way, whether you Do a combination of that experience. It's 100% up to yourself. Because free will gives us the capacity to respond, and that is essentially responsibility.
So that is navigating our lives. As you know, I'm big on heart, mind alignment. So spirituality is saying combine the both and recognize the loving consciousness, the expansive, the unlimiting options rather than the limited ones.
Now, we do have a part in spirituality called our limited self, lower self, physical self, whichever way you'd like to label it. So in spirituality, that element is always going to be saying to us, hey, just do 3D. Okay, 3D, is it? That's all there ever is. But of course, there is that constant quest in us to say, are we just this? Are we alone? Are we the only species in our galaxy? And we're going to ask those questions. So spirituality says if you want to explore the answers to those questions, you're going to be looking at outside the cube. You're going to be embracing immaterial qualities as well as material ones.
So ego would love to have limited fear, control, lack and loss, a square geometry that keeps you inside the cube. All right? And not exploring what your true potential and the real meaning of your life is.
So spirituality gives us that big horizon, that big circle within which there are a lot of dimensions of ourselves and that we do embrace and love and respect our experiences in the material. But it's not the only experience we can have.
Okay, so number two, why then do people see spirituality as potentially poverty or giving everything up?
Well, it's because there has been a greater polarizing in our world of late. So from about the 80s onwards, we've been seeing our appetites, our expressions, becoming more and more extreme. And of course, that is a choice, but equally, it is an exploration that is coming or has come to a complete end, those really big extremes.
And so now we are looking at to develop a vision, looking to develop a perspective that's a lot more balanced. Okay, we're still here. We haven't blown ourselves up. And we are beginning to embrace more and more the expanded view of our lives and where we are in our galaxy and how we relate to ourselves, how we relate to our planet. So all of this is very encouraging.
But of course, in ancient traditions, we did have that polarity and that perspective of all or nothing. You're either rich or poor.
If you're not pro something, you're against it. So we have had those perceptions put upon the ancient wisdoms rather than a neutral perspective. So in that conditioning of polarized, of course, spirituality has fallen into that. So being viewed as. As the immaterial, being without value or being a loss, because literally it's not things, it's not material.
So my number two is saying, please understand that your life is a combo between the 3D, the material benefits, the material aspects, and the immaterial.
Now, you could say, oh, you've got to get old to get spiritual. That's not the case. A lot of people are seeing this balance today and incorporating both.
So my number two is saying, look in the eyes of unity, look through a unifying perspective and see that spirituality embraces everything. But again, it's your choice.
So if you do want more meaning, if you do want to explore the sense of destiny or the life you're meant to have, then you're going to need to get out of the all or nothing perspective and say, actually spirituality is about balance and about how to combine both the material quality of your life with the immaterial.
Okay, so moving on from number two, number three. As a result, when we realize we don't have to lose our shirt if we're going to be spiritual, then we can look at much more. Moving into balance through less is more.
Now, our limited self, our ego isn't going to be very happy with that because our ego wants to keep us focused inside the cube and focused on how much we have and all of the things in our lives. But when we are embracing a greater understanding, then we're going to literally live or walk out of the cube and go, hey, what does it look like outside of the cube?
So if I can use the analogy of some of the great religious traditions and some of the great consciousness exploration and journeys that we have in our ancient wisdoms, for example, the Buddhist tradition, the Jain tradition, the Muhammad and prophet tradition, we're going to be looking at these great influences in our spiritual development on the planet as a journey, all right? All of these great energies, they went on a journey, all right?
And they didn't actually go, oh, I'm spiritual, and that's all I do. They went through their 3D and understanding what it was to be human, as well as expanding and combining their spiritual nature. So if I take Buddha, for example, Buddha was a prince, and he was born into great privilege and into a position to rule a kingdom.
But he said when he'd been very 3D and had, of course, experiences of the best in his era, the best of the best, because he was a prince, he also then just woke up and said, I'd like to see other aspects of life. And that meant he was combining his 3D, the material and the immaterial, and his spiritual pursuit, his spiritual resonance. He felt connected and wanted to explore further.
And so that's when he left the palace. That's when he started to see how the people in his kingdom were living, surviving, enjoying all in scarcity, poverty and difficulty.
So I personally don't believe any of the great leaders in our spiritual traditions kind of woke up and went, oh, I'm going to give up everything, all right? They simply said, I need to explore beyond seeing spirituality in a material form. I need to look at the other dimensions of spirituality.
So, again, it wasn't all or nothing. They were doing both sides of the coin. And in a lot of our traditions, we're seeing that evolution, but it's not necessarily explained.
It's more a point where everything's done in the material and then, oh, everything's given up to be spiritual. So it's definitely a progression. I think we can all say perhaps when we were 18, we wanted to go down the club, we want to go to Glasgow, we wanted to do a lot of beautiful physical experiences, wanted to bungee jump, wanted to go around the world.
But, you know, when you move through your life, then the immaterial and the meaning and purpose becomes extremely important.
So it's a combination of both. I think today, say, many people who are younger are absolutely engaging the spiritual from the beginning of their lives. And so, yeah, it's not to immediately look at the religious or ancient wisdom traditions and say, wow, they gave up everything in order to do what they achieved. They didn't give it up, they exchanged it. Or they changed their focus into a less material perception.
And it was time and they were ready. So there's no misery, there's no scarcity, there's no suffering, because it was simply a choice to move further into the exploration of the immaterial. And not to say I don't want the material, just I want to live in more of the immaterial exploration rather than the material one.
Okay, so number four, I think we can all say, yes, the world is in transformation, perhaps a lot quicker, and it appears to be speeding up. And so my number four is that we are in a consciousness shift and we can ignore it. We can say, yes, we'd like, like a wave. We'd like to surf that wave and make a success and align with it and enjoy everything that that's on offer. So if we're going to transform and evolve as a species, we're going to raise Our consciousness. And if we raise our consciousness, of course that means we're going to be in higher frequencies of energy.
And so higher frequencies or energy are literally more about exploring the qualities of our life rather than the things.
So that is why people sometimes believe that when you're spiritual, you don't have anything.
Well, you probably just simply very discerning about the quality and what you choose to have in your life. We've got this beautiful aspect of the recognition of recycling in our world on a massive and global scale, which is wonderful.
And in spirituality, we're constantly recycling. We're saying, can't learn from that.
Have got the wisdom because I applied and I experienced. So I'm going to keep the wisdom in my heart center so I can call upon that in my other experiences moving forward. But I'm going to recycle the attachment to doing it in that form or doing it in that way.
So this constant recycling is what is supporting less is more, but also helping us all dive into a greater and deeper relationship with concepts like loving, consciousness, self love, the true and authentic nature of fulfillment.
Okay, so number five, right? I personally say to people with spirituality, please have a balanced foundation. All right? Enjoying spirituality doesn't mean you've got a scarcity of materiality. It can, however, mean that you want to go into a state of simplicity.
So to be in alignment with your spirituality, you might go, hey, I don't want clutter in my life, be it emotional, material.
And so you're going to be looking into that and looking into what you're carrying, what you don't want to carry anymore. And so there's going to be, in my opinion, not the loss of your shirt, but the sense that what is present in your life, be it material, emotional, or spiritual in the sense of altogether unified, is actually the becoming of who you want to be, who you meant to be, and the purpose and sense of destiny and that you connect with.
Okay. It's been my great pleasure to talk about the state of spirituality, how to embrace it today, and that you don't have to lose everything material in order to be spiritual.
